Day 1: Casablanca — Rabat — Chefchaouen

Our private 9-day Morocco trip from Casablanca starts with a visit to the unique Hassan II Mosque by the Atlantic waves. Then, our driver takes you to Rabat to visit the Kasbah of the Udayas and Hassan Tower. Day 2: Chefchaouen — Volubilis — Fes

Later, on this Moroccan desert tour, we drive to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, where ancient history is carved in stone. This UNESCO heritage site reveals human habitation from thousands of years ago in the countryside.

Afterward, we arrive in the spiritual capital of Morocco, Fes, which is the oldest capital of the kingdom. You will unwind in a picturesque traditional riad to gear up for culture overload the following day. This part of your trip connects you with the profound spirit of our timeless ancient arts and crafts.

Day 3: Exploring the medina of Fes

Day 3 focuses on the biggest car-free urban space in the world. A local guide will show you around the old schools and colorful markets in the Fes medina. This is a major highlight of all Moroccan desert trips because Fes definitely feels like an ancient living museum.

First, you will visit the famous tanneries that dye leather in exactly the same way as they did hundreds of years ago. Even during your desert tour in Morocco, you can visit the gate of the Royal Palace and enjoy the hilltop views. This full day in Fes allows you to explore our history thoroughly.

Day 4: Fes — Ifrane — Azrou — Midelt

Through the fourth day of your private 9-day Morocco trip from Casablanca, you will leave the city and start your journey up to the Middle Atlas Mountains. We make a stop at Ifrane, which people refer to as “little Switzerland,” for some fresh mountain air. You will see the coolest, most verdant part of your Atlas Mountains tour here.

During your tour, we will also visit the Cedar Forest in Azrou to meet the wild monkeys who live there. From there, we follow the high plains until we finally arrive at the town of Midelt for a night stop. This is a chill day for getting ready to head toward the mighty Sahara.

Day 5: Midelt — Ziz Valley — Merzouga

On day 5, you will journey through the Ziz Valley and its canyon. During your desert trips in Morocco, you will realize that between the tall, dry mountains, millions of palm trees are growing along a river. This view is spectacular because the green trees look like an island in a desert environment.

Towards the afternoon, you will arrive at the beautiful golden dunes of Merzouga to commence the desert portion of your tour. You are going to exchange your car for a camel and walk into the dunes as the sun sets over them. Afterward, you will enjoy a special dinner with Berber music under the stars.

Day 6: Merzouga — Khamlia — Nomadic families

Day 6 is dedicated to discovering the secrets of the desert. Next, we head to the village of Khamlia for some spiritual Gnawa music performed by locals living in the dunes. This unique aspect is a favorite for many and is an integral part of our Moroccan desert trips.

We then visit a nomadic family to see how they live in the open desert with their animals. In the afternoon, you have free time back at the hotel or can discover the small dunes by yourself. This extra day is provided for you to really sense the tranquility of the Sahara.

Day 7: Merzouga — Todra Gorges — Dades Valley

On the seventh day, you should wake up early to see the sunrise. The light turns the sand into shiny rose gold, creating a memory you will keep forever. In the morning, we take our camels back and drive toward the high flanking rock walls.

From there, we enter the Todra Gorges, where 300-meter-high rock walls rise above a cool river. This is one of the most incredible sections of your Atlas Mountains tour because the canyon seems so powerful and beautiful. Afterward, we will cross through the Valley of Roses before arriving in the Dades Valley for the night.

Day 8: Dades Valley — Ait Ben Haddou — Marrakech

We spend the eighth day exploring the ancient “road of a thousand kasbahs.” We visit the world-famous Ait Ben Haddou, a mud-brick city where many Hollywood films were shot. This site has earned World Heritage status from UNESCO and is a primary reason many trips in Morocco stop here.

Crossing the high Tizi n’Tichka Pass, our driver will lead you through the Atlas Mountains section of your trip. On the road, you will observe wonderful Berber towns perched on steep slopes. Finally, we reach the beautiful city of Marrakech in the evening.

Day 9: Marrakech — Casablanca

During the last day of your trip, we will visit the landmarks of Marrakech, known as the “red city.” You will explore the Bahia Palace and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fnaa square with an expert local guide. All Marrakech tours include this because the energy and souks are so engaging.

In the afternoon, we depart to drive back to the coast for the conclusion of our tour. We take care to get you back to your hotel or the airport safely as you reminisce about your wonderful Marrakech trips.
